I wake up in the morning feeling energized and rejuvenated. It is not my birthday, anniversary , Christmas, and neither is it new year's day. All the same it feels and looks like a special day.I promise myself that , today I will make a difference.
I will prepare for the worst , anticipate the best and work with what will come .I promise to keep my heart full of good thoughts so that bad ones will find no way to enter.I will go an extra mile to offer a word of prayer in the morning, meal times and just before I retire to bed.
Today is the day for dropping all those unhealthy and irritating habits, and embrace morally acceptable traits.I will take a well-deserved cold shower, wear clean and well ironed clothes, and comb my hair neatly.I will make my bed, clean my room thoroughly and have it neatly arranged. I will also remember to leave my muddy shoes at the door ,brush my teeth after every meal, eat lots of fruits and vegetables and make sure I drink at least eight glasses of water.
My phone will be put to good use today, as I promise to call all my loved ones in the morning to wish them a good day, and make a follow up in the evening, to inquire how their day went. I will buy enough airtime, to avoid 'flashing' , sending 'please call me' messages, and to reply to all text messages I receive. I will be courteous to my callers even those who would have definitely dialed the 'wrong number'.I will save more numbers in my phone book, even of those whom I think we have nothing to talk about.
I will try my level best to be kind to others and greet friends, strangers and enemies with the same amount of charm and enthusiasm.I will literally smile all the way to the banking hall and queue patiently behind other customers as I await my turn with the teller. I will give a coin to that beggar on the street and take minute to listen and empathize with him. Today I will avoid cracking stereotype jokes, shun tribal discussions and restrain myself from giving subjective opinions. Today,I shall appreciate other people the way they are.
I will start to look at life from a different perspective , by replacing skepticism with a more optimistic approach.I can see lady luck smiling at me ,implying that this is the most ideal day to buy a lottery ticket. I will look for opportunity in every difficulty as this is the day for me to stand up and be counted .I will start to call things by their names and speak only when I have something to say but not because I have to say something.Today I willbegin to make consultation my greatest friend, learn from other people's mistakes and be willing to stand corrected.
More are the things I have been taking for granted but today marks the beginning of recognizing the importance of seemingly simple expediences. As such I look forward to spending quality time with my family; I'll be home in time for the seven o'clock news, fix the security light ,lock up the chicken in their place, and join the rest of the family at the table for supper.
At the end I will judge the day, not by the harvest I reap, but by the seeds I would have planted.Today, I'll be change I want to be .Today, I will make a difference
I will buy enough airtime to avoid flashing, sending 'please call me' messages and to reply to all messages i receive.
